Welcome back to CASUAL FRIDAYS! Our weekly, one-microphone recording series!

This week we welcome the Post Timey String Band. They blend folk, old timey, and pop into a big ball of catchy infectious yarn. It's a great song to eat Thanksgiving leftovers to!

Welcome back to CASUAL FRIDAYS! Our weekly, one-microphone recording series!

This week we have a recording of poet/comedian/intuitive healer/author/wonderful person/generally-unstoppable-positive-force-in-the-world, Justin Blackburn! He reads one of his poems (from his book Child Be Wild) sandwiched with a song he wrote while driving over to record. It's a beautiful reading of a beautiful poem by a beautiful human.

WELCOME BACK TO CASUAL FRIDAY! Our weekly, one-microphone recording series!

This week, Schooner (from Durham, NC), stopped by to play a new song, "Flood Lights & Ghosts" off their new album, "Neighborhood Veins" The song is a washy and hazy waltz topped off with Reid's naturally crooning voice. It pulls you in and lulls you back and forth like a big long hug from an old friend.

Welcome back to CASUAL FRIDAYS! Our weekly, one-microphone recording series!

Every week seems to offer up a new first, and this week is the first time we haven't posted CASUAL FRIDAY on Friday. Sometimes you just go trick-or-treating with your daughter, watch a scary movie with your buddies, wake up to go to work early, and realize you haven't edited a song for CASUAL FRIDAY! Oh no! We actually got it on Soundcloud and Facebook yesterday, so if you follow us on one of those thingies, you heard it. If not, here you go...

The Prairie Willows is a folk trio of friendly ladies from Columbia who wash over you with sweet, sweet melodies with accompaniment from guitar and violin. Close your eyes and give it a listen.

If you live in Columbia, they'll be playing at the UU Coffeehouse tonight (Saturday night!) with Dayna Kurtz!

Welcome back to CASUAL FRIDAYS! Our weekly, one-microphone recording series.

This week we're present our first spoken, non-musical CASUAL FRIDAY! Our friend, G.E. Hobbs III (or Gene or Trey) came over and read a segment from his upcoming (and untitled for now) one-man stage production. The segment is called "Sweaters" and features an astronaut reflecting on some things past and some things present.

You can also see G./Gene/Trey acting in this short film written by our buddy Nathan Poole and directed by another friend, Josh Rainwater.

This is also the first time we haven't featured a drawing by Jordan Blackmon for a CASUAL FRIDAY. Instead, we present you with this killer (heh heh) CASUAL FRIDAY themed jack-o-lantern by our friend, Brittany! Thanks, Brittany!

Welcome back to CASUAL FRIDAYS! Our weekly, one-microphone recording series.

Two of our good friends, Noah Brock & Sean Thomson, play in a band called Ghost At The Feast. Noah writes some beautiful folk songs, and Sean does a great job and providing a good atmosphere/accompaniment without being overbearing. To me the best part about folk music is the minimalism of the recordings and the sounds of the surroundings that often work themselves into the performance. 95% of Casual Fridays are recorded in the living room at F&S HQ, oftentimes with my daughter running around watching, listening, and helping, so I was excited that Noah & Sean were equally excited about the sounds in this recording that weren't necessarily written into their songs.
