Those Lavender Whales

Pilgrims, Friends, & Blood-ties

Aaron Graves had begun making music as Those Lavender Whales as early as 2004 releasing folk-pop songs through handmade EP’s that were distributed to friends and sold at subsequent shows. 2007 saw the release of an EP named “Let’s Be Friends! I’m Sorry I’m So Sleepy” and some east coast tours in support of the record. After that Graves worked on building new songs, while also building a new family.

While Those Lavender Whales was finishing their debut full-length album, Tomahawk of Praise, Fork & Spoon presented a 20-track collection of old and unreleased Those Lavender Whales songs titled Pilgrims, Friends, and Blood-ties. This collection of odds & ends documenting the bedroom pop experiments of Those Lavender Whales was compiled onto a vibrant yellow cassette.

All songs were recorded between May 2004-February 2010. Tracks 3, 10, 13, & 16 were originally released as a self-titled EP (2004). Tracks 2, 5, 8, 11, & 14 were originally released on the “How Many Things Can You Count On One Hand” EP (2006). All remaining tracks were previously un-released.
