Chemical Peel

…the band shows a knack for the kind of frizzy lo-fi pop on “Left” that steered Vivian Girls toward stardom, and on “Singing Western” imagines Sonic Youth taking on The Surfaris. The bluntly titled “Puke Stains” keeps the group rooted firmly in garage rock, burying declarative vocals (not far removed from an Eddy Current Suppression Ring cadence) beneath a clatter of ringing guitar chords, ambling bass and insistent drumming.
